My Approach
Through my work as a therapist, I’ve had the privilege of hearing many life stories. I’ve learned that people are not defined by the past nor the problems they face in the present. We are innately wired for healing, so I believe that therapy can be most effective when I work with clients to identify and remove obstacles getting in the way of natural growth and healing. I don’t prescribe to a one-size-fits all approach, as every person I work with is unique and requires an individually tailored relationship.
My approach is warm, engaged, and collaborative, in which I listen with compassion and non-judgment while also offering direct questions and guidance to help you make new connections and insight. I practice an integrative form of psychotherapy, which means I draw from different approaches depending on the situation. I am deeply influenced by relational psychodynamic and attachment theories, meaning that while we may explore significant relationships from your past, growth and healing occur when we work with emotions and relationships in the present. I find that working directly with core feelings can not only improve symptoms but lead to lasting change. To accomplish this, there is an experiential component to our work, in which we will pay attention to feelings and experiences in the moment, as well as processing the relationship dynamic occurring between us, using our relationship as a means of understanding and growth.
